We produce materials and online tools to support and represent Gypsies and Travellers

London Gypsies and Travellers produces a range of publications, videos and online tools which provide Travellers and Gypsies in London with information and support them in influencing the policy decisions that affect their lives.

Community map

Community map screenshotThe LGT Community Map supports Gypsies and Travellers in London to explore and share their experiences of using local services – for example, those related to housing, sites, employment, health and education.

The interactive map allows you to chart your experiences – but also to find out other people have discovered about services available for Gypsies and Travellers. The Community Map is part of LGT’s London Mapping Project, run with Mapping for Change.

History and heritage map

Heritage mapWith National Lottery funding, London Gypsies and Travellers has recorded population data, sites and tenures across every borough, and recorded the histories and voices of Travelling Showpeople, Irish Travellers and Romany Gypsies. This has resulted in the interactive LGT history and heritage maps, produced with Mapping for Change, documenting memories of place, lived experiences and social, economic and cultural relationships.

The history and heritage map shows: existing sites and yards and those that have been lost; travelling routes; and the web of historical connections between travelling and settled communities and the places they share and live in today. This is the first set of interactive, online maps of London to foreground the knowledge, skills and cultural lives of travelling people.

You can read more about the history and heritage project here, and access the maps here.

Campaign materials

We are all so many things...

LGT’s poster and social media campaign drew attention to the stereotyping that defines, limits and discriminates against people from the community. It  challenged public perceptions of Gypsies and Travellers by asking why people only ever see their ethnicity, not their worth.

Here you can download campaign materials.
